Following the recommendations launch event in January, 2024, and the 40+ commitments made by attendees, the jury has been continuing its conversations, seeking implementation of its 29 recommendations.
In February 2024, the Jury presented its findings to the Full Council of Bude-Stratton Town Council, which agreed to hold an Extraordinary Full Council meeting on 18 April for further consideration of the recommendations. Bude-Stratton Town Council has also agreed to receive the findings of the Budehaven School Mini-Jury.
The Jury has also secured a meeting with the local MP in April 2024, and is heading to Truro to meet the Strategic Director and Head of Communications at Cornwall Council to discuss how better to align messaging on climate change.
There are also discussions taking place to set up a coastal communities network to work collaboratively and share knowledge and the jury has been instrumental in setting up a Summerleaze dunes group.
Government policy is increasingly looking at community-led decision making and this jury puts Bude, through its Lottery funding, well ahead of the game.
